I had read a bit about Ne le dis à personne, aka Tell No One, before I had watched it, as I normally do, that made me go into the film with high expectations. A critical and box office hit in its native France, the highest praise came from Sir Michael Caine who said it was probably the best movie he had EVER seen, add that with the very high percentage it has on Rotten Tomatoes of 95% (As of time of writing this) and the fact most reviews I had read were very positive, you can understand why my expectations were high.
Normally when this happens I am left disappointed after watching it, and with Tell No One I was a little disappointed because as I said, I had read many VERY positive reviews and it certainly isn’t perfect, but I was half expecting that in truth, but I still enjoyed it a lot, but is it the best movie ever or even close to it? Nope. Is it a very solid film that keeps you guessing until the ending? Yep. Continue Reading »
I first started watching foreign films a few years back, well actually I had watched a few before that but that’s when I seriously got into it and started to take more of an interest in them (And by foreign films I mean subtitled). Anyway, since them I have always kept an eye out for what’s being released on the foreign scene and always write down stuff that seems interesting to me so I remember, sometimes it takes me a a while to get around to watching them, but in the end I usually do, even if I buy them and they just sit on my shelves for months, I always have something to watch and because I do that for most things I buy I don’t have the time to watch everything straight away, especially with other things going on in my life too, there is only so many hours in the day Continue Reading »
Browsing around blogs and sites I always find stuff I am interested to see, some I am glad I saw and others not so, although I don’t always see every film I’d like, well not straight away as I always have so much to watch, but it’s always nice to have things to see and keep an eye out for. Here are 3 foreign films I am interested in seeing, whether I do or not will depend on time and the others things I need to watch, but hopefully I will catch them sometime. Continue Reading »
You know those type of movies where after you have watched it you are left confused and have to think about certain things, either the film as a whole or the ending, a mind f*** if you will. Here is a list of films that made me think, and some I still probably don’t understand completely. Please, no spoilers, I know that is dull but still.

I have liked Asian films ever since I saw Ringu (Or The Ring as it was called for the remake), I remember watching the American version and not thinking much of it, but people told me to check out the original and I did, and since then I have watched many Asian films.
There have been a few remakes of Asian films done by Hollywood, there is only one I can think of that I didn’t mind, not because I am some Asian film snob or anything, but the remakes are just rarely as good as the original or anywhere near as good full stop, the Asian versions are just better for a few reasons for me. (Oh, the film I didn’t mind was The Departed, remake of Infernal Affairs). Continue Reading »
