You know those type of movies where after you have watched it you are left confused and have to think about certain things, either the film as a whole or the ending, a mind f*** if you will. Here is a list of films that made me think, and some I still probably don’t understand completely. Please, no spoilers, I know that is dull but still.
- Memento - This film confused the hell out of me, and to a degree still does, but I still love it.
- Donnie Darko - Listen to the DVD commentary to understand more about this film.
- Once Upon A Time In America - The ending is just great, even after a long brilliant film which this film is you still get an excellent ending that boggles your mind.
- Lost Highway - What the hell? I still don’t get it all and probably never will.
- Mulholland Drive - See above, what the hell, man?
- Usual Suspects - I wouldn’t call this film confusing, but the great twist ending leaves you so intrigued you have to watch it again to see if you can pick up clues.
- The Shining - As soon as I saw the ending I wondered wtf? After reading up on it a bit I think I have it worked out, but still one I am not 100% sure about.
- Oldboy - Amazing and crazy film with a great ending. That smile…
- Jacobs Ladder - I actually didn’t like this film at first viewing, but I did at second viewing when I knew the twist.
- Fight Club - Definitely a film that needs a repeated viewing or two.
- Session 9 - Not the greatest film ever but it was one that made me think a bit.
- Infernal Affairs - Not overly confusing but definitely one I had to rewatch
- A Tale Of Two Sisters - Weird and confusing, but good
I am sure I have missed some and might edit the list later when I think of them, but feel free to mention your own favourites and if I haven’t seen it I’ll probably check it out sometime!
