Just Release The DVD’s Already

Cheers, where everyone knows your name! One of the things I hate is when a company only releases some of the seasons of a particular television show only to wait ages and ages for the next season or they don’t release it at all, why don’t they just release them all within a decent time frame? Either release them all or release none at all. One program I am thinking off is Cheers, yesterday I pre ordered season 9, finally it’s being released, nearly TWO years after season 8 got released! They blamed low sales of the DVD’s, but when 8 have already been released you should just release the rest, especially when it’s only 3 more seasons and not leave people hanging like that. Anyway, apart from that little rant I will also post what else I bought and what I am looking forward to being released!

As mentioned I came across Cheers season 9 finally being released so decided to order/pre order a few more DVD’s too and ended up getting these. Most of these I haven’t watched yet, I always wait until TV shows get released on DVD so I can watch the episodes side by side, I much prefer it that way even if I have to wait a bit.

Hugh Laurie stars in HouseFirst up I pre ordered House Season 4, although their isn’t a release date set but I have paid for it anyway so I can get it as soon as it is automatically. I actually haven’t watched season 3 yet, had it for a bit but not got around to it yet but will have one weekend House bonanza some time! You got to love Hugh Laurie, he is awesome in pretty much everything and House is no different, which is a good thing because the show gets a bit samey but you can forgive it because of him. Next up was the pre order of the 3rd season of My Name Is Earl (Much like House it doesn’t have a release date but I pre paid for it anyway, won’t be that long now). I loved the first two seasons and am looking forward to seeing this with him in prison, interested to see how it will work out or how long it lasts (No spoilers, please) - Oh, and I have a BIG crush on Nadine Velazquez, but then, how can you not?

The second season of Dexter was up next in my shopping spree, again no date specified but it can’t be that long, another program whose direction I am interested to see as it seems the character will be completely different in some ways then in the first season, so could be a good or bad thing! I did look for Heroes season 2 but that isn’t available for pre order at all just yet although I think it’s only just finished anyway, not sure.

Juno DVDThat was all of the pre orders I did but I also bought a few that are already out, the first one was Juno which I really need to watch, I’ve actually had the soundtrack for a bit but not got round to getting the DVD until now. No Country For Old Men was next, a film I have heard nothing but great things about and one I was always going to watch regardless being the film is a Coen Brothers one, but going to watch this film with high hopes and I don’t think that will make it any less good from what I have heard. My next purchase was City Of Men, a TV show by the creators of City Of God that follows the same sort of story, but less graphic and more TV show based. Finally I bought Planet Earth - The Complete BBC Series, which should be very good! But that was my little spending spree for now, I often buy DVD’s but sometimes buy a few at once if I have the money available.

Going back to the rant about not releasing seasons of DVD’s for ages, another example is NYPD Blue. Season 4 was released around 2 years ago and yet their is still NO news whatsoever about season 5, and this is one of the better seasons! I wish they would just release them all in one go or at least do it in a decent time frame.
